PRIDE RULES is a remarkable look at lion prides, their politics, their incessant drive to survive, and the daily struggles they face to protect their territory. On the banks of the Chobe River, a large lion pride dominates the highly prized floodplain territory. Led by two charismatic brothers and a plucky lioness, the pride consists of 18 members. And then there’s Einstein; the wayward son who should have left home long ago. As the dry season takes hold of their territory, the pride capitalizes on weakened elephants, fights off rival lions and sees new cubs into the fold, sparking Einstein’s inevitable eviction. But while Einstein embarks a peril-filled journey to find a new home, his original pride must battle enemies to protect their turf and their cubs. The Great Elephant Tale

The film follows three elephant herds in three very different African environments; the lush abundance of the Okavango delta (Botswana), the wilds of the remote Lower Zambezi valley (Zambia) and the harsh terrain of the Hoanib Desert (Namibia). In each habitat we follow a different character. A mother guides her family to find food, water and shelter, a young calf navigates the dangers of her new environment and a bull pursues a breeding herd as he attempts to extend his bloodline. The three narratives intertwine as we compare and contrast the challenges faced by the same species in vastly different scenarios, while bitesize factual sequences are placed to give the viewer a deeper understanding of what makes elephants tick.
