My Best Friend's An Animal

MY BEST FRIEND'S AN ANIMAL is an emotive, heart-warming series which tells the stories of humans who have unlikely and extraordinary friendships with wild animals. Wild Peru: Andes Battleground

There are three Perus: its great rainforest, the Andes foothills and the pacific coastal deserts. Across two hours, we explore all these diverse habitats, from the rainforest dwellers like the giant otter, the sloth and the colorful macaws, to its extreme coastal desert animals where penguins and cormorants live cheek by jowl with sea lions and fur seals, whilst in the mountain foothills are fog fed pastures, where bears, guanacos, tapirs and pumas fight it out for survival.

Red Crabs Crazy Ants

Christmas Island is home to the yearly mass migration of red crabs. Each year many of the crabs fall victim to the alien yellow crazy ants. These ants release formic acid as they crawl over and around the crabs which, with no defence against the ferocity of the onslaught, become stressed and generally die within a few hours.
