Valley of Flood and Fire

The seasonal changes of the Luangwa Valley are extraordinarily intense. Heavy rains transform the Luangwa River from a shallow channel into a majestic waterway where grass grows tall and streams fill with an abundant selection of creatures, providing plentiful food for many grazing mouths. It is a wetland paradise. But it is short lived. A relentless and crippling drought follows and lasts for a majority of the year; weakening all life, save for the predators who take advantage of this widespread fall. This is the VALLEY OF FLOOD AND FIRE.

Wild Birds of Australia

Australia hosts over 90 bird species that are entirely endemic to the country. The superb lyrebird with his showy tail feathers and ability to mimic other birds; the vicious and bad tempered cassowary; and the Australian brush turkey, with his bizarre nesting technique, are but a few of the extraordinary feathered creatures explored in this series.

City Wildlife Rescue

CITY WILDLIFE RESCUE tells the tale of small animals in the big city. Turtle Beach

Meet the Penguins

In a sunlit corner of the southernmost part of Africa, there’s a very special rescue centre for some of the country’s noisiest residents: the African penguin. The passionate team made up of vets and volunteers at the Sanccob Seabird Rescue Centre work day and night to bring these loveable creatures back from extinction, releasing recovered birds back into the wild and providing a loving home for those that cannot return.
